Bails are one kind of important jewelry findings, they are made to attach to different kinds of pendants. Bails are not new items in my china beads stores, they have a loop that slides onto a chain or cord. It’s the “other sides” of the bails that are different.
Snap or Snap-On
The snap-on reminds me of a paperclip. You need a ring of sorts to use this one with. You may have to use pliers to do some bending to get the finding to snap on.
Glue On
This one is used when the pendant has no loop, ring or hole that you can use to attach bails too. Fused glass pendants, stones, and clay are all examples of where these can be used.
Pin and Hole
With this one you push the pin through the pendant and bails hole before closing the pin.
Pinch
This one works with a pendant with a hole closer to the edge. It has two prongs that you put through the hole of the pendant and pinch closed.
Donut
The donut bail is specifically used with donut beads. It has a big loop section that will fit through the center of the donut bead.
Triangular, Oval and Other Shapes
These all work with a ring that you attach to the pendant.

I want to purchase some bead caps, but I am not sure what size to get. I have 4-10mm beads. Is there a chart somewhere that says what size bead cap fits on various bead sizes?
This is a really good question to which there is no direct answer except, it depends. The size of the bead cap, depends upon a variety of variables and that is why there is probably no chart.
Variables: shape of the bead, depth of the bead cap, design of both the bead and the bead cap, overall design preference (i.e how do you want it to look?), functional design elements (i.e. helping the bead lay flat, covering a flaw etc), and probably a few more variables not readily apparent to me off the top of my head.
For example, one would think that, say for your 10 mm beads, one would need 10 mm diameter bead caps. Well, not exactly but, then, maybe yes. For the purpose of illustration, let us say that your 10 mm bead is perfectly round and your bead cap is 10 mm very shallow and somewhat of a slight dome. Might work somewhat like a disk, or spacer. On the other hand, let’s say your 10mm bead is heavily faceted and more odd shaped and let us say (for purposes of illustration) that the bead cap is perfectly round, has a clean concise edge, and is 5mm deep? Might not fit and you might want to go larger, but then, it might drown the bead itself or, because of the faceting and the odd shape, might just not work. Then, take the same heavily faceted 10 mm bead that is 20 mm long and your bead cap is basically 10 mm in diameter but is 10 mm deep and has leaf like projectiles along the border of the bead cap that are malleable and can be expanded or contracted? This would probably work. These are extreme examples, but I think you can see my point.
Sometimes I find that smaller metal bead caps look very nice on larger beads, especially if you wish to show off more of a particularly lovely bead. Bead caps that are too big hide attractive beads but sometimes it’s the bead cap one wishes to focus on.
Bead caps are the one kind of essential jewelry findings used in beading, you can wholesale jewelry findings online the internet, there are so many more supplier providing china beads and findings like bead caps, bails, head pins, links…

Head pins, just as the name refers, have the heads and the pins which make the two things together. They can be used as one kind of jewelry findings and they are very necessary for making hanging jewelry pieces. And usually it is hard to find a head pin from a jewelry piece, for they are bended to hang charms or as a link for stringing materials. It is not hard to image that most people have heard about them, but not familiar with them.
Do you know the basic usage of head pins? Maybe most people do not know the exact answer. Head pins are usually used to create dangles. Do you know how to use head pins? If the answer is no, the follow the editor, the editor today will tell you how to use jewelry head pins step by step.
First, if you want to use the pin, pick one of them out and straighten the wholesale head pin out.
Next, be sure there is just a hair’s width greater than 1/4″ of wire showing above the bead. That’s make sure it is not too thick or too thin.
Using a round- nose plier, bend the desired piece into a round shape.
Bring the end of the pin into the hole opening of the bead.

When jewelry artists create jewelry pieces, one of the necessary jewelry making findings is jewelry clasps, which hold necklace and bracelets ends together. Clasps, which are essential for jewelry making, come in different style, such as such as box clasps, hook and s-hook clasps, lobster claw, spring clasps, toggle clasps, magnetic clasps, screw clasps, slide lock clasps, and so on. In my posts there are some jewelry making ideas, such as handmade fashion jewelry ideas, necklace and earring, and teach you make a one wire necklace, I also need the help of clasps in the process of beading.
Clasps are not only functional devices that are used to connect two parts or the ends of a necklace together, but are the important beading needs that can make your jewelry look elegant. The use of the beads caps for jewelry making are very important and today the editor will introduce you how to use caps in detail.
Bead caps are always used for making necklaces, bracelets and earrings, and usually be used in pairs at two ends of beads to add texture and design to jewelry pieces. They come in a wide range of colors, such as gold, antique gold, antique silver, silver, copper, red copper, bronze, antique bronze, black, platinum and so on. They also can be made of different materials, including iron, copper, alloy, alloy and enamel and etc. Besides, they also can be made in different shapes, but the most commonly used shape is flower.
There is a post in a forum written like that: I have never used wholesale bead caps before. When choosing the bead, do you use the same size bead cap as the bead, i.e, 4mm bead and (2) 4mm bead caps, OR do you downsize/increase the bead size by a half millimeter or so for a good fit?
For this question, It really depends on how wide the “opening” is on them. Many will fit several different sized beads, but some have a more narrow opening and will only fit specific beads.
Generally it’s a 2mm – 3mm difference with the narrower types, so if it’s a 6mm bead cap, it will typically fit a 5mm – 7mm bead.
Wider openings, you can put 2mm, 3mm or 4mm bead caps with 8mm, 10mm or 12mm beads. However, it’s really hard, if not impossible, to go smaller such as 8mm caps with 2mm beads.
